Basia Baumann
Invisible Art.
Basia Baumann is a filmmaker, writer, and visual artist based in Munich. Basia Baumann studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (ABDK) in Munich from 2009 and graduated in 2015 with the video film installation “How Long is a Moment”.
Her works explore perception, time, and the invisible patterns of human connection—often blending photography, video art, and narrative experimentation. Inspired by C. G. Jung’s theory of synchronicity, her art invites us to look twice and listen inward.

2016 – „Follow me“

2015 – How Long is a Moment
Diploma Exhibition, Academy of Fine Arts Munich (ABDK). A 7-minute video installation exploring the elasticity of time. What is a moment? A fleeting touch, a kiss, a drop of water. How many encounters does it take to truly see the other?
2013 – DIFRAME – The Inner Child
Filmzeit Kaufbeuren, video projection on the facade of the town museum Basia Baumann sees the world through the eyes of a child—pushing boundaries and making the invisible visible.
This vibrant, ever-shifting installation draws viewers into an unexpected journey, visible from dusk during the Filmzeit festival.

2013 – I, 61.2 cm² Parasit
Annual Exhibition, ABDK Video projection of an eye onto evaporating saline solution. Over 10 days, approximately 1,500 droplets fall daily onto a 61.2 cm² copper plate—again and again on the same spot, symbolizing repetitive mistakes. The resulting transformation (or destruction) of the plate becomes part of the artistic process. Its untouched counterpart hangs at the entrance of the installation. (Co-production with Alke M. Scherrmann)
2011 – ONE MOMENT & PRINCESS ISLAND
Group Exhibition – Galerie der Künstler, Munich (ART HOMES)
A photo and video installation using trompe-l’œil techniques.
• PRINCESS ISLAND: 1.85 cm × 2.65 cm on aluminum dibond, captured using a Linhof Technika camera.
• HOW LONG IS A MOMENT: Installed in the bedroom of a stranger’s apartment.
You expect your own reflection—yet find a woman from the 19th century, taking her time in front of her vanity.
(Co-production with Alke M. Scherrmann)

How empathetic are you?
